Val, you are an amazing person. I love how you take life in stride. I thought it was great how you came in and helped your mom at school. I am grateful to know you and be your friend. Happy 40th. I will be joining you with that age in the fall this year! :)

Dear Val,
Happy 40th Birthday! We want you to know how much we love having you in our family. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect wife for John, or a sweeter daughter-in-law for ourselves.

You have had to endure many hard trials in the past few years, but have handled them with courage and grace. You even planned a fantastic family reunion for the Scott family in Seattle after losing baby Natalie. You have been an inspiration to all of us.

We have had the good fortune of spending many holidays (especially Thanksgiving and Christmas)with you and John and your girls. You are a wonderful hostess and always make us feel so welcome. Some of our fun memories include going to Victoria, BC and touring the Butchart Gardens, going to see "Wicked' and the 'Nutcracker' in San Francisco, visiting the Fish Market and the Space Needle in Seattle, going to see the lights on Temple Square and at the St. George Temple and even Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving. We look forward to many more great memories in the future.

Have a fantastic Hawaiian birthday and we hope to see you soon.

Love, Susan and John
